While I have lived most of my adult life in the New York City area, I still think of Kentucky as home. My father was a military officer and we relocated every two years when I was a child. When he retired from the Army we moved to Lexington, KY, and I went to high school and college there, graduating from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in biochemistry. My whole family attended UK.
I then went to Vanderbilt University Medical School, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine which I completed at the Manhattan Veteran's Administration Medical Center, New York University. I am board certified in Internal Medicine and have completed the recertification process twice, most recently in 2011.
While patient care and medical reading keep me busy, I enjoy checking my office collection of African violets for signs of blooming. I don't claim to be an expert in growing African violets, but I do like the way they brighten up the place.
